Nutmeg is the dried seed of the fruit of an evergreen. Warm and sweet, nutmeg adds depth to desserts and savory dishes alike. Sweet and highly aromatic, nutmeg is especially good in combination with other sweet spices like cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
Frontier Co-op® organic whole nutmeg provides a more potent taste and aroma than ground, and gives you fresh flavor every time you use it. Just grate the amount you need with a microplane or spice grinder. Whole nutmegs store long and well in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

Directions
To freshly grind whole nutmeg, remove the outer shell by peeling it away, then use a microplane or grater specifically designed for nutmeg. One whole nutmeg yields the equivalent of about 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg.Suggested Uses
Our nutmeg is great not only in custards and eggnog, but in curries, creamy sauces like the classic béchamel, pasta and Greek dishes. Also use it in your own mulling spice blend. Whole nutmegs also make a nice visual addition to home-crafted holiday decorations.Share
